Expanded Fun...I mean form. Expanded Form!

Our class has been exploring place value to one thousand and that means digits in the ones, tens, and hundreds.  But what does each digit mean? What is the real value of an 8 in the tens place?  Or how about an 8 in the hundreds place? 
This is where expanded form comes in.  Our class worked in group pinwheels to practice standards form numbers in expanded form.

866 = 800 +60 +6
