Superhero Predicates

This afternoon the students completed part one of our writer's workshop lesson on combining predicates to make super sentences.  The students worked in teams to brainstorm a new superhero for the activity(all of which I have trademarked in the event that someday they turn into billion dollar grossing movie franchises).  We have been exploring how good writers can improve their sentence fluency by taking smaller sentences with common subjects and combining the predicate.  Like this...

Joe went to the movies.
Joe got a flat tire.
Joe went to the movies and got a flat tire.

But the subjects of our super sentences couldn't just be some average Joe!  Here are our superhero team creations.
Tomorrow these amazing superheroes will combine some predicates.  Tune in then.  Same predicate-time!  Same predicate-channel!
