On Thursday, we continued our Wednesday night homework with an engaging Math lesson where the students became Math officers. Here is a picture of them graduating from the math police academy. The students all decorated a badge and created their own officer name.
As the lesson went on, all my Chiefs, Captains, Secret Agents, Officers, and Patrolmen found out what hard work it is being a math officer. Every time Mr. Cavileer completed a double-digit addition problem, he broke a rule in some way. It was up to the officers to find my mistakes and fix them.
Here are some of the violations that my officers gave me tickets for.
- Always add the ones column first.
- Carry the 1 when the ones column goes over 10.
- Only carry the 1 when the tens column goes over 10.
- If the ones column adds up to 13, don't carry a 3!
