Subtraction Facts

The students have been practicing their subtraction facts using many different strategies, all with our eye on memorizing the facts for later success.  In this lesson, we partnered up and presented our classmates with an even number of snap cubes.  The partner was then asked to turn that number into a doubles subtraction problem.  Many of the students quickly realized that doubles facts are actually the beginning stages of division as they broke the snap cube groups exactly in half.   Great work everyone!
