This morning we needed to spice up some practice pages in our Math book because everyone was soaring high with our lesson on Subtracting Money amounts. So this is what we did.
First we saw this picture on the big screen.
The students took a few minutes to make connections and share stories about times they've been on a airplane. I reminded them how airplane seats work from A-F and we imagined that the picture stopped at row 20. In our classroom, we sat behind them in Rows 21, 22, 23, and 24. After we got a seat with a row and a letter, we sat down on the floor with our Math books and completed those workbook pages with the help of anyone sitting next to us. 22E was allowed to help 22D and 22F.

That's when the imaginations started to run wild and our practice book pages became a Math airline adventure.

Seats 21E and 21F were busy airplane partners |

Prepare for take off! Jack had an aisle seat. |

After finishing their own work, John and Sean were promoted to Flight attendants and were allowed to help all the passengers. |
